Abstract Nowadays, as an emerging technology, additive manufacturing (AM) has received numerous attentions from researchers around the world. Hence, plenty works in literature are dedicated developing different types MMCs through processes. this paper provides a comprehensive overview on latest research that been carried out development powder-based manufactured scientific and technological viewpoint, aimed at highlighting opportunities challenges innovative process. For instance, it documented not only able resolve reinforcement/matrix bonding issues usually faced with during conventional MMCs, but also functionally graded geometrically complex Furthermore, opportunity for uniform distribution reinforcing phase metallic produce using refractory metals thanks local heat source employed method.
